Want to invest 5,000 pesos in a MVNO? – How about 5,000 pesos for several of them?

The Mexican MVNO Diri, announce the start of a public offering in several MVNOs via crowdfunding

Following the crowdfunding success of the Brazilian MVNO Fluke, comes an offer to invest minimum 5,000 pesos (U$ 242) in several MVNO brands – from one MVNO in Mexico.

The Mexican Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) Diri, has announced the start of a public offering via the crowdfunding platform Play Business.

The company is looking to raise a minimum investment of 10,616,000 pesos (U$513,000) and the minimum investment amount per investor, is 5,000 pesos (U$ 242).

As of today (June 19, 2021), the company has raised 769,850 (7% of its target) from 36 investors on the crowdfunding platform.

Update July 1st, 2021: As of today, Diri has raised 4,168,291 pesos (U$207,808) from 283 investors – or 39% of its minimum goal of 10,616,000 pesos.

Update July 21, 2021: Diri has now raised 6,009,382 pesos (U$297,476) from 471 investors – or 56% of its minimum goal of 10,616,000 pesos

Not one MVNO but several

Diri Telecomunicaciones, entered the market in April 2020 and offer mobile phone, home internet and MiFi services to nearly 100,000 users nationwide and was one of the fastest growing MVNOs in Mexico last year thanks to its: Diri, PilloFon and Space Movil brands.

Diri is the flagship brand. It offers both prepaid and postpaid services to the cost conscious end-user who seeks simplicity and control.

PilloFon is the second brand launched and operated by Diri.

PilloFon entered the market in October 2020, and was launched in conjunction with the influencer Luisito Comunica – one of the most popular YouTubers with 36 million subscribers on YouTube, 26 million followers on Instagram and 16 million followers on Facebook.

Space Movil is the third brand launched and operated by Diri.

Space Movil entered the market in November 2020, and was conceptualized in conjunction with Kimberly Loaiza and Juan de Dios Pantoja, two popular influencers in Mexico and the first telephone company in Latin America to have been founded by a woman.

Kimberly has 44+ million followers on TikTok, and JD Pantoja has 18+ million followers on Instagram.

But wait, there’s more!

Investors will be part of a special purpose vehicle (SPV) that will receive a percentage of Diri’s total revenues, including those of PilloFon, Space Movil and upcoming launches, in addition to any other sales that the company will have.

And there are already upcoming brands on its way. One of Diri’s strategic objectives for 2021 is the launch of new mobile phone brands focused on different segments.

Diri plans to launch four new mobile phone brands in the coming months. The first of these is Loot Móvil, which will offers a unique service, created by gamers, for gamers.

40% of the proceeds from the investment round will be used for the launch of a new brand (Digital marketing, public relations and national distribution )

Another 40% will be used for acquisition of equipment inventory for the national launch of the new PilloFon “CapoKit”.

10% will go to improvements in the distribution channel and another 10% to grow the working capital.

It is worth noticing an exit clause was included, in the event that the expectations of the round are not met, Diri is obliged to buy back the entire investment vehicle with an IRR 10%, thus mitigating the investment risk.
