TDC Denmark secures 50 percent of MVNO Justfone

MVNO Justphone is set to launch in Denmark in June 2014

TDC, Denmark’s incumbent operator has secured 50 percent stake in “Justfone” a new MVNO from Telecom entrepreneur, Frank Rasmussen, the founder of Telmore.

Frank Rasmussen has an impressive statistic in the MVNO industry. He founded Telmore, one of the world’s first MVNO’s and sold it to TDC in 2003 for more than DKR 300 million ($55.7 million). He then went on to launch another MVNO “BiBoB” which he sold in 2009, to Telenor for DKR 93 million ($17.28 million). He also sold MVNO Systems A/S, a MVNE/OSS company to Telenor in 2011.

Justfone was initially set to launch in May 2014 but the launch has been postponed to June 2014 instead. The MVNO will use TDC as host network in Denmark, as coverage for the new service is considered more important than speed.

It seems that the new MVNO will focus on opening functionalities previously reserved, by opening more self-service options, to the end-user, in order for them to control as many aspects as possible and thereby tailor and manage their own services, which also explains the idea of issuing Multi-SIM. The goal is launch the service internationally.
