Thailand’s Telecoms regulator (NBTC) has summoned representatives of the mobile operator DTAC and the OTT messaging app LINE, to determine if the new service between the two “LINE Mobile” is a MVNO, and as such requires a MVNO license.

I-Mobile, a subsidiary of Samart Corporation, and one of the first five MVNO pioneers to launch in Thailand on TOT’s 2100MHz in 2009, has submitted its notice to the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) that they are hanging up their MVNO business.

LINE Mobile has not yet disclosed any details, plans, or a MVNO license for that matter regarding its launch in Thailand, but does however mention it is available on the 850, 1800 and 2100MHz through dtac TriNet or DTN (DTAC)

Once again, Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has been active handing out MVNO licenses bringing the total MVNO license issued in Thailand to 47.
