Opera is still the most used mobile browser globally thanks to their Asian and African users. Opera leads the mobile browser war with 26.45 percent, a small margin over iPhone’s 22.07 percent, according to the latest global stats on StatCounter.
StatCounters stats are based on aggregate data collected by StatCounter on a sample exceeding 5 billion pageviews per month collected from across the StatCounter network of more than 3 million websites.
While users in the US, Oceania, and Europe favors the iPhone browser, it is the Asian and African markets that gives Opera the lead.

Asia
52.2 percent Asians favor the Opera browsers
34.55 percent Asians use the Nokia browsers while only 4.92 percent use the iPhone browser.
Also interesting is that Android is not yet visible on the top 9 in Asia despite talks about good sales or perhaps the users who have android uses Opera as their preferred browser?

Africa
54.35 percent favor the Opera browsers. Nokia takes second spot with 29.28 percent and on third place Netfront with 5.24 percent while iPhone only manage to get 2.89 percent.

North America
In the North American market iPhone is clearly in the lead with 35.57 percent.
Blackberry enjoys 20.63 percent on second spot.
iTouch has 17.57 percent on third place
And Android has obtained 7.34 percent and takes the fourth place before Opera with only 3.5 percent.

Europe
iPhone takes the lead with 33.87percent against second placed Nokia with 19.21 percent. In Opera’s own backyard they only manage to get 14.95 percent, even though Russian users are the top users of the Opera browsers 76.5 percent.

Russia

South America
The market in South America stands out by favoring Nokia with 44.03 percent. Opera on second with 19.38 percent, and iPhone on third with 17.35 percent.

Asia in details
While Opera enjoys a large portion of users in Asia, especially in India, Indonesia, and Vietnam they seem to have difficulties in another large market in South East Asia, in the Thai market Opera with only second place with 25.43 percent against Nokia with 54.76 percent.
Thailand

Laos
In Laos the picture is the complete opposite with Opera enjoying a large growth and takes first place with 74.69 percent against Nokia on second place on 20.63 percent

Malaysia
Malaysia used to have a large Opera Mini user base but it seems Nokia keeps the first spot with 51.54 percent against Opera’s 22.98 percent

Vietnam
Opera still in the lead here with 61.16 percent

Indonesia
A clear picture with Opera on first place with 82,67 percent against Nokia on second place but only with 13.62 percent.

Cambodia
In Cambodia the market looks similar to the Thai market although not the same size.
Nokia hold 48.16 percent on first spot against Opera on second with 34.19 percent.
